I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while to keep family and friends updated on our lives, the kids, the adoption process, and our adventures in the land of Aloha - so here it is. This is my first post so just I'm just testing the waters today and seeing how this works. So far it seems pretty easy... and I need some easy!
Justin returned home from his rugby trip last Saturday. We're enjoying having him home. He is a bit banged up, but I pretty much expected that. He will be getting his knee checked out next week. There seems to be some loose cartilage under the kneecap. I'm really hoping this was his final rugby stand... keep that in your prayers!
We have friends traveling tomorrow to pick up their children in Africa. It's looking like an 8 week trip for them. That's a bit concerning as these trips seem to be getting longer not shorter as we were hoping for. We are hoping to hear about a match before too much longer, hopefully in the January time frame.
I just finished reading "Scared" by Tom Davis. It was a wonderful book about real life happenings in the southern Africa region. It really shed some light on what the kids experience there. Justin, the kids and I watched a film tonight called "Dear Francis", a powerful documentary on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in southern Africa. I'll be passing these along to family soon.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. The adoption process has really put a whole new perspective on this Thanksgiving for us. We pray that our child in Africa is safe and taken care of while waiting for us to bring her home. We have so much to be thankful for!
